April 26th GAME FAIR OPEN DAY

 

 

A TWO DAY event:  Friday April 25th was Corporate Day and Saturday April 26th was Open and Family day. 
 
The event raises funds for the Grafton Village Hall Charity Rebuilding Fund.
 
31 teams took part in the Corporate Day, which also included an auction in support of
the Day Therapy Cancer Unit at Great Western Hospital.  On Saturday, in gloriously warm
weather, a great day was had by all, taking part in a wide range of country activities.

INTRODUCTION
The Grafton Game Fair Open Day took place on Saturday 26th April
at Manor Farm Wilton, Nr Marlborough SN8 3SS

Three field sporting disciplines were included:
 
Clay Pigeon 50 bird shoot                           £ 20 per round
Pool Shoot                                                  £ 5 per gun
3 gun Team Flush                                        £ 5 per gun

Novice Gun                                                 £ 5 per gun
Gun Dog Scurries                                       £ 5 per dog
Fly Casting                                                  £ 5 per rod

All proceeds from the Event go to Grafton Charities.

PROGRAMME OF EVENTS
9.00am Registration, Bacon Butties, Coffee.

9.15am Game Fair Programme Commences

11.30am Bar open and BBQ lunch

4.30pm Prize giving
                                    High Gun                £100
                                    2nd Gun                  £ 50
                                    3rd Gun                   £ 25
                                    Top Team flush        £ 50
                                    Top under 20 yr old £ 50
                                    Pool Shoot            Pay out every 20 guns
                                   Top Dog                 Port decanter
                                    Expert Fisherman  Port decanter

SHOOTING PROGRAMME
The Clay Shooting Event consisted of: -

          50 bird shoot on 5 stands.

          Pool Shoot

          40 bird-flush for a team of 3 guns

          Novice gun with instructor


GUNDOG SCURRY
The Gun Dog Scurry was three retrieves from young woodland and one from the lake, testing both owners and dogs alike.
Points given for
          Your dog’s time 50%
          You and your dog ‘s team work 50%

This competition was working guns dogs only, and dogs who have run in a field trial were excluded.


FLY CASTING competition
To hone the skills of the participants for the coming season, the fishing competition will take the form of fly casting on the lake under the watchful eye of an experienced fisherman.


ARCHERY and MUSKET SHOT
