ARMY HISTORIC AIR FLIGHT TO FLYPAST AT "MUSIC ON THE GREEN".
The Army Historic Aircraft Flight seaston starts in mid April, when the aircraft have been fully serviced over the winter period by the extremely experienced team of engineeers, belonging to the filght. The pilots then gather for their training, culminating around mid-May in the flying display being authorised by the Director of Army Aviation and the Commandant of the School of Army Aviation.
The majority of these displays take place within a relatively short distance of Middle Wallop in order to preserve flying hours. The flight is limited by their Army Historic Aircraft Charter, which states that they can only attend events within a hunder mile radius of their base at Middle Wallop. This can under special circumstances, be extended.
This year they plan to participate in over fifteen events, including our own, ranging from full flying displays to flypasts and static displays. Other events attended include, Farnborough International Air Fair, RAF Lyneham Open Day. As you can see we are in very good company and also very lucky to have such an event, alongside the Band of the Parachute Regiment and the excellent "Red Devils".
